In 1887 he worked at Glyttinge Gård (farm) in Kärna, Östergötland. Nov 18, 1887 he left Sweden aboard the "Romeo" with destination Chicago. In the US he changed his name to Frank Beckman. He settled in Linn Grove, Iowa where he farmed till 1909 when he moved to Little Falls, MN. Moving back to Iowa in 1921 where he passed away some time in the early 1930's. The grils are still living, onein Iowa, one in Colorado, and one in Oregon (in late 1970's).

Frank left Sweden in Nov. 1887. In May 1888 Franks's daughter Hedvig was born in Sweden. Hedvig's mother Hulda never dared to cross the Atlantic and although Frank sent over tickets from the new country (this has been verified from two independant sources) Hulda and their child stayed in Sweden.

Married Amanda in America, perhaps without a divorce from Hulda.
